It seems through some unintentional process, based on some incurable addiction, I’m building a set of flat side Bedrocks. I just won a 605 1/2. I bid $100 assuming I would get beat by a long shot.

I’ll admit I’ve been busy, and not paying a whole lot of attention, but isn’t $100 shipped still pretty cheap for a completely restorable flatside 605 1/2?

Congrats on a sweet jack! Maybe everyone was busy watching the Series, and forgot about the auction? I know I've done such in the past!

Just for fun, I bid $100 on a North Bros. 12" brace last week...but didn't get lucky there...sold for $170!

Congrats! I suppose the rest weren't paying much attention! I have to wonder how much stuff I got in that exact way..

Very nice!

If it weren't for the hang hole, I'd offer $250!

I did a little more digging on price. The price of these have seemed to dip the last couple of months. I got a fair price based on recent cost, but it wasn't the deal I thought it was.

Odd, to be sure. MF no 15s have been crawling out of the woodwork of late (I've seen half a dozen in the last week between ebay and other sources)..are we on the receiving end of The Great 5 1/2 Dumping event, where prices dip enough for us to stuff our collections and await the last of them to dry up?

If so, I need to get a moveon and drop a few more $$... Haha

Looks great! I recently bought a corugated flatside 5 1/2 at antique store in really clean shape thinking that I was getting it at a steal of a price so I could tune it and resell it to recoup some of my recent tool purchase expenses. Unfortunately I didn't look carefully enough and didn't notice the broken frog until getting it home. Now I'm into it for about what it's worth having had to buy another frog via ebay.

Ouch! The only ones near me ask collector prices for broken castings. I find I have to be incredibly careful..which isn't that hard considering I cant really afford $300 for a plane I wont ever use, haha

For what it's worth (and not to gloat), I recently picked up a 605 1/2 R&L round side Bedrock on eBay for $120 plus shipping. I was shocked to see that no one was bidding on it. They all must have been at happy hour that week. It's about 90% perfect, too. This is the kind of "once in a lifetime" deal that just happened to fall in my lap. Now, let's see if I can duplicate that for the 603c, 604c-608c's that I'm looking for. Not likely.

Ebay is so unpredictable. Sometimes you can get a deal, it just takes time.
